Program builds activism

Kimberley Spicer at a TAFE rally in Parramatta.

I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the Anna Stewart Officers for two weeks in term 4. I enjoyed every minute of learning about our union and networking with teachers. Through my experience, I have gained confidence and assurance to be better able to update and support members at my school.

I had the opportunity to sit in on executive meetings, Officer meetings, Department of Education and Communitites meetings, industrial relations hearings, and to witness the hard work put in by the Executive, Officers, Organisers and teachers from around NSW.

I was able to participate in the Stop TAFE Cuts campaign and experience teachers banding together in our fight for fair public education.

My support, commitment and activism are strong and continue to grow. I recommend all women members to consider participating in the Anna Stewart Program.
