Gaol review to look at education services

Greg Butler
Industrial Officer

Education services will be the focus of the second stage of Corrective Service’s review of its Offender Management and Policy division.

Corrective Services has advised it plans to commence the review of education services early in the new financial year, but this will depend on availability of resources and relevant staff.

The department is drafting terms of reference and the Assistant Commissioner has agreed to provide Federation the opportunity to respond formally.

Throughout the review, Federation will take up all opportunities for consultation with management and continue to advocate for the industrial and professional interests of its members, and the merits of education in correctional environments. Federation will also promote input by representatives of the Corrective Services Teachers Association and by its members at the appropriate times.
