CATHERINE BLACK (FORMERLY MUNRO) Tribute is paid to the late Catherine Black, (formerly Munro) for the contribution she made to public education and to the Teachers Federation. Catherine began her career as Miss Wylie, at Villawood Infants in 1956. She married and became Mrs Munro in 1958. Over the next 22 years, she taught in a number of Sydney schools including Cabramatta, Oyster Bay, Heathcote East and Sylvania. In 1980 she moved to the country and was the Infants Mistress at Corowa Public until her retirement in 1985. Catherine was a passionate supporter of public education and of the Teachers Federation. For many years she served as a dedicated councillor and association delegate to annual conference. She fought tirelessly for improved conditions for teachers and students. Catherine led by example and was always prepared to stand up for what she believed in. She is sadly missed.

PAMELA MAY GLASSON NEE FREEMAN — 23.10.13 Pam taught Languages, in particular German, at Jannali Girls High School in the 70s before moving to Tasmania. Her little fawn VW, infectious laugh, colourful language and brilliant outfits added to the dynamics of life at Jannali Girls. She contributed extensively to education in NSW and Tasmania during her time as a teacher. Pam was vivacious, fun-loving, incredibly resourceful and cheerful in the face of many challenges. She loved teaching, the arts, her
3 boys and her Pommie origins! Pam managed to celebrate her 70th birthday before succumbing in October to all the long-term health problems she dealt with so privately. Her Christmas bulletins, so full of local news, ‘her boys’ and extended family overseas will be greatly missed. Our condolences to her family. Peggy Knott.
