New north-west Country Organiser

Federation's new face in the north-west, Susan Armstead

Teachers in north-west NSW have a new Federation Country Organiser in primary teacher Susan Armstead.

She has served the union as a Relief Officer in the roles of Industrial Officer, City Organiser and Editor and Publications Officer.

In 2009 Susan was an Anna Stewart Temporary Officer.

At the local level Susan has been an Association President, Vice President, Secretary, Councillor, Federation Representative and Women’s Contact. She is a life member of Grafton Teachers Association.

Susan was elected at November Council. She replaces Marty Wheatley who now works out of the Lismore office.

Marty served the north-west region in 2013 following his election as a Country Organiser.

He replaces Nicole Major who now works for the Australian Education Union as Federal Aboriginal Education Officer. Nicole was a Federation Country Organiser from 2007.

Also moving desks is Rod Brown. He was elected unopposed as Assistant General Secretary (Research and Industrial).

Rod served as a Welfare Officer between 1989 and 1996 and again from 2002 until 2009 when he was elected as an Industrial Officer, a job he held until taking up his new position in October.

Rod replaces the retiring Wendy Currie. Wendy was a Research Officer from 1998 until she was elected as Assistant General Secretary (Research and Industrial) at the 2010 triennium election.

Sam Clay has returned to the classroom after two years as an Industrial Officer.
