Common struggle against privatisation

Roberto Baradel: pushing back against the Right.

It is incredibly important that we remain alert and in a constant fight in the protection of public education, Union of Education Workers-Province of Buenos Aires General Secretary Roberto Baradel told September Council.

During the fascist dictatorship in Argentina 1976 to 1983, leaders moved to privatise many state assets and push through with the privatisation of public education.

Mr Baradel reported that today public education had been protected from that "attack" and there was a "pushing back against the Right".

In 2005, four Latin American Presidents rejected inclusion of public education in free trade agreements.
