Almost 90 per cent of TAFE NSW graduates are satisfied with the overall quality of their training, latest figures from the NSW Auditor-General show.
Federation Deputy Secretary (Post Schools) Maxine Sharkey said TAFE has traditionally been held in high regard by graduates, employers and the general community.
"This high regard is despite sustained funding cuts by two levels of government.
"Imagine what TAFE could achieve if it wasn't treated so badly."
The Stop TAFE Cuts website currently features a page of famous Australians who are proud to say they got their start at TAFE. These include Oscar winner Catherine Martin, who studied pattern cutting at East Sydney Technical College, gardener Jamie Durie, who studied horticulture and landscape design at Ryde TAFE and fashion designer Akira Isogawa, who studied at East Sydney College.
