You can help to protect the future for TAFE by signing a petition that opposes the destructive effects of substandard privatised training.
The petition can be found here.
TAFE and the quality of vocational education are in rapid decline as a result of the State and Federal governments’ privatisation agenda. Hundreds of private trainers have entered the market, attracted by an ill-conceived lucrative student loan scheme that is netting them millions of taxpayer dollars.
TAFE funding has been slashed by state governments to feed the private colleges and now it’s feared the Federal Government will take over the sector and destroy TAFE.
The losers are students who are being denied access to reliable, quality instruction and learning facilities, and denied the ability to gain credible TAFE qualifications.
Australian industry leaders have also expressed concern that private providers are not delivering adequate education and training to apprentices despite charging high fees and that this could have adverse effects for numerous industries in the future.
Signing the petition is one way you can show your support for TAFE and oppose any further cuts to this branch of public education.
