Gaining and maintaining accreditation at Professional Competence and planning, programming and behaviour management were covered in a recent free seminar for early career teachers.

The seminar, sponsored by the Parramatta Teachers Association, allowed teachers of all ages to access valuable information and resources to support their teaching.

More than 40 teachers attended the afternoon course.

An assistant principal attended to find out how to help mentor her staff.

“The content was well organised, the presenters were knowledgeable and the discussion was flowing,” she said.

Afternoon tea and refreshments were provided and teachers were given examples of accreditation documents, relevant resources and the chance to ask questions and network with colleagues. The seminar was accredited with BOSTES allowing teachers to gain hours towards their accreditation. The seminar addressed standards 2.2.2, 6.1.2, 6.3.2, 7.2.2 and 7.4.2.

Positive feedback was provided from teachers who attended. One teacher commented: “More people would benefit from what was offered; it is great to have a clear understanding of the whole accreditation process.”
